How to Play?
Ready ~ Resources to play
- Players: 2
- Needs: Timer, Flat surface
- Time: 45 minutes
Set ~ Prepare to play
- Separate the Direction cards from the Topic and Bible-based Prompt cards.
- Shuffle and set aside Direction cards facedown.
- Remove the Follow Up and You Direct cards before shuffling.
- Randomly (re)insert the Follow Up and You Direct cards into the shuffled Direction cards.
- Ensure the Follow Up and You Direct cards are not first in the Direction deck.
- Shuffle Topic and Bible-based Prompt cards together.
- To play Topic OR Bible-based prompts only, separate one from the other here. Use either set of cards going forward.
- Pass Topic and Bible-based Prompt cards to players in turn until both players have five cards each.
- Each player speakers on the cards he or she receives
- Set the remaining cards aside (next to the Direction Deck).
- (Optional) INTIMACY AGREEMENT: choose a or b or both.
- a: PRAY – one player invites the Holy Spirit to inspire an atmosphere of vulnerability and trust between players and a commitment to listen and respond sincerely to each other. Both players say “Amen” at the end of prayer.
- b: VOCAL SIGNATURE – both players recite: “I agree to be vulnerable, to trust you with what I share and to actively listen as you share”.
Go! ~ Play
Each player in turn:
- Flips a Direction card for instruction on how to share
- Exposes ONE of their Topic/Bible-based Prompt cards in hand
- Follows the instruction for sharing their opinion/experience on the exposed topic/prompt
- Speaker shares for max 3 mins
- Listener and speaker engage for max 1 min (see table)
- Listener affirms speaker’s value on given topic/prompt based on sharing
- Speaker confirms listner’s interpretation and or affirms his/her own values on the topic/prompt.
- Winning Seeds of Intimacy ~ 5/5
- If the speaker confirms the listener’s interpretation of his/her values then the listener:
- Takes the Topic/Bible-based Prompt card
- Gains one seed of intimacy
- If the listener inaccurately interprets the speaker’s value from his/her sharing, then the speaker:
- Retains the Topic/Bible-based Prompt card
- Gains one seed of intimacy.
